Ofsted's report card from its 6 May 2026 inspection grades Huish Episcopi Academy on 7 areas: 2 strong standard and 5 expected standard. Report cards replaced single-word judgements in November 2025, on a five-point scale from exceptional to urgent improvement.

Leadership and governance - Strong standard. "Leaders, including those responsible for governance, have made rapid and sustained improvements to the quality of provision that pupils experience at Huish."

Personal development and wellbeing - Strong standard. "The school has a coherent, high-quality programme of personal development."

Achievement - Expected standard. "Pupils at Huish, including those who are disadvantaged, achieve well."

Attendance and behaviour - Expected standard. "Leaders prioritise improving the attendance of pupils."

Curriculum and teaching - Expected standard. "Leaders have an accurate understanding of the quality of the curriculum and how it is taught."

Inclusion - Expected standard. "Leaders identify the needs of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) accurately and with increasing precision."

Post 16 provision - Expected standard. "Leaders have an accurate understanding of the strengths and areas for development in the sixth form."

Safeguarding standards were met.

In 2026, pupils at Huish Episcopi Academy averaged an Attainment 8 score of 51.5, the average grade across their best eight GCSEs. The average state school scored 44.3 in Somerset and 47 across England.

58% passed English and maths at grade 5 or above, against 40% in Somerset and 47% in England.

That is in line with 2025, when the score was 50.6.

Its most recent Progress 8 score, for 2024, was -0.13: pupils made below average progress compared with pupils nationally who started secondary school at the same level. Progress 8 was not published for 2026.

Disadvantaged pupils averaged an Attainment 8 of 42.1, against 53.7 for other pupils at the school - a gap of 11.6 points.

Pupils sat GCSEs in 26 subjects; after English and maths, the most popular were Religious Studies, Combined Science and Geography.

For September 2026 entry, 198 families put Huish Episcopi Academy as their first choice and 257 named it as one of their preferences, for 199 places offered. It had fewer first-choice applications than places. Every family who put it first was offered a place there for 2026 entry.

Huish Episcopi Academy is one of 98 schools run by United Learning Trust, an academy trust.

Across the trust's secondary schools, pupils averaged an Attainment 8 score of 49 in 2024/25.

Of the 235 pupils who finished Year 11 in 2023/24, 84% stayed in education or training for at least two terms, including 44% to a further education college, 9% to an apprenticeship and 2% into work.

Of the 63 students who left the sixth form in 2023/24, 52% went on to university or other higher education, 3% to apprenticeships and 33% into work.

4.7% speak English as an additional language, against 18.8% on average, according to the 2026 school census.

In 2026, 131 pupils (11%) received SEN support and 15 (1.3%) had an education, health and care plan, against 16.2% and 4.6% at the average state school. The most common need among them is a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia.
