What This School Does Well

This school excels at rebuilding the confidence of young people who have struggled in mainstream education. Staff develop strong, trusting relationships with pupils and provide exceptional enrichment opportunities - from working with DJs on music to learning cooking skills with a qualified chef. Pupils gain genuine qualifications and leave well-prepared for college, apprenticeships and work.

Key Strengths

  • Excellent pastoral support and strong relationships between staff and pupils who have experienced exclusion from other schools
  • Exceptional personal development provision including cultural experiences, visits to places of worship, theatre trips, and careers guidance
  • Significant improvements to reading provision with clear checks on pupils' progress and tailored support
  • Ambitious, responsive curriculum adapted to pupils' different starting points
  • Inclusive approach to supporting all pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs

Areas for Improvement

  • Some activities and resources do not clearly link to the important knowledge pupils need to learn, limiting their progress
  • Staff sometimes do not provide enough support to help pupils stay focused and committed to their learning

Safeguarding

Safeguarding arrangements are effective, with leaders and staff creating an open, positive culture that puts pupils' interests first.

Extracurricular Activities

Music work with DJ, cooking and nutrition classes, theatre visits, Houses of Parliament visit, celebration of world faiths including Sukkoth and Eid, mosque visits, rewards breakfasts and lunches in local restaurants, careers sessions
