What This School Does Well
Heath School transforms pupils' educational experience - students report being much happier than in their previous mainstream settings. Staff build strong relationships with pupils, recognise their strengths, and help them feel confident and successful. The school offers diverse qualifications and career support so pupils can be ambitious about their futures.
Key Strengths
- Exceptional behaviour and respect - pupils follow rules, treat each other and staff with respect, and do not disrupt learning
- Strong relationships and pastoral support - pupils report feeling much happier and more confident, with staff praising their strengths
- Ambitious curriculum offer - expanded key stage 4 with vocational qualifications, BTEC National Diplomas, and Prince's Trust accreditation
- Excellent personal development through active learning experiences that enrich cultural capital and build self-esteem
- Well-managed attendance with leaders working to solve complex underlying issues with families and agencies
Areas for Improvement
- Pupils with gaps in phonics knowledge need a more systematic reading intervention programme - this is being planned for September launch
