Ofsted's report card from its 14 April 2026 inspection grades Hassocks Infant School on 7 areas: 7 strong standard. Report cards replaced single-word judgements in November 2025, on a five-point scale from exceptional to urgent improvement.

Achievement - Strong standard. "Leaders have designed the curriculum, approaches to teaching and the school environment to enable all pupils to achieve very well."

Attendance and behaviour - Strong standard. "Pupils love coming to this school and happily attend regularly."

Curriculum and teaching - Strong standard. "Leaders have developed a broad curriculum which is set out in a logical order towards ambitious goals."

Early years - Strong standard. "Leaders have developed an early years curriculum which highlights and seamlessly sequences the most important knowledge and skills."

Inclusion - Strong standard. "Leaders take every opportunity to get to know pupils and their families at the start of the Reception Year."

Leadership and governance - Strong standard. "Governors understand their statutory duties well and carry them out diligently."

Personal development and wellbeing - Strong standard. "Leaders have developed a personal, social and health curriculum which supports pupils very effectively to look after themselves and recognise healthy relationships."

Safeguarding standards were met.

Ofsted's next steps for the school: "Leaders and those responsible for governance should continue to drive the ongoing refinement of the curriculum implementation, to achieve and sustain exceptional standards of teaching, which has a transformational impact on the achievement of all pupils, particularly those with special educational needs and/or disabilities".

In its own words: "Thank you for taking the time to find out about our school. Hassocks Infant School is situated in the centre of the village of Hassocks at the foot of the South Downs. Our accommodation includes the original Victorian village school building together with later additions including a brand new reception wing of three classes and three new offices."

For September 2026 entry, 80 families put Hassocks Infant School as their first choice and 141 named it as one of their preferences, for 85 places offered. It had fewer first-choice applications than places. Every family who put it first was offered a place there for 2026 entry.
