Ofsted Insights

What This School Does Well

Greenfields provides a warm, welcoming environment where children feel safe, supported and inspired to learn. Teachers are skilled at explaining new ideas and helping pupils remember what they have learned, with particular strength in reading where all pupils flourish. The school offers wonderful opportunities beyond the classroom including clubs, residential adventures and cultural experiences that enrich children's education and nurture their independence.

Key Strengths

  • Well-ordered curriculum that breaks complex knowledge into manageable chunks with planned opportunities for pupils to revisit and repeat important learning
  • Strong, well-taught reading programme with effective phonics support that ensures all pupils become readers
  • Teachers have strong subject knowledge and skilfully explain new concepts while addressing misconceptions
  • School is relentlessly ambitious for disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND, identifying and meeting their needs well
  • Pupils receive excellent wider learning opportunities through clubs, residential visits, careers learning and cultural experiences

Areas for Improvement

  • In a small number of foundation subjects, pupils do not have secure understanding of previously taught knowledge, with some understanding being fragile
  • School should ensure pupils solidify and deepen their understanding of earlier taught knowledge to achieve higher standards

Safeguarding

Safeguarding arrangements are effective and the school has created a positive culture that puts pupils' interests first.

Extracurricular Activities

Wide range of clubs, residential adventurous visits, careers learning experiences, Shakespeare workshops, visits to places of worship

Greenfields Primary School and Nursery has maintained its outstanding standards since the previous inspection in January 2020. Pupils thrive socially and academically within a positive school ethos that promotes high aspirations and mutual respect.
