Golden Valley Primary creates a happy and safe environment where children thrive. Pupils develop strong reading skills from Reception onwards and receive excellent support if they need help. The school excels at supporting pupils' wellbeing and mental health, with caring staff who go the extra mile for children who have experienced difficult circumstances.

- Strong phonics teaching and early reading support that helps pupils become confident and fluent readers
- Effective identification and support for pupils with SEND, including access to calm spaces
- Excellent mental health support and care for pupils who have experienced trauma

- Significant improvements in pupil attendance with reduced persistent absence
Areas for Improvement
- Checking what pupils know and can do in some wider curriculum subjects is not effective enough, so learning doesn't always build on prior knowledge
- Staff subject knowledge is less secure in some curriculum areas outside of English and mathematics
- In some new curriculum areas, staff sometimes ask pupils to recall knowledge they haven't been taught or set tasks that are too complex
