This is a welcoming school where children thrive. Pupils develop strong reading skills from the start, enjoy a rich curriculum with exciting trips and visitors, and benefit from caring staff who know them well. The school is particularly strong at supporting all learners, including those with additional needs, to succeed and feel confident.
Key Strengths
- Effective teaching of phonics and reading from early years onwards, with strong focus on developing fluent and confident readers
- Strong personal development and pastoral care, with staff knowing pupils well and helping them become confident, resilient individuals
- Broad and interesting curriculum with opportunities for trips, visitors, sports tournaments, choir, and musical instruments
- Excellent support for pupils with SEND, with high ambitions for all learners including those in the resource base
- Positive behaviour, kind relationships between pupils, and effective handling of bullying concerns
Areas for Improvement
- Teachers do not consistently have high expectations of handwriting and presentation - some pupils form letters inaccurately and their work is difficult to read
