Ofsted's report, in its own words
What is it like to attend this school?
Pupils are at the heart of this caring school. It is a happy and nurturing place in which to learn. Pupils and staff understand the importance of working to uphold the school's Christian values of trust, respect and courage. They do their best to live up to them.
Pupils behave well in lessons and around the school. Classrooms are calm and purposeful. There are high expectations of behaviour and pupils meet these well. Pupils hold their teachers in high regard. Relationships are respectful and positive.
What does the school do well and what does it need to do better?
The school has managed a number of staffing changes recently. This has meant that plans to improve some areas of the curriculum are at a very early stage. In some subjects, leaders have not identified precisely what pupils need to know and in what order. The sequence of learning is not clear in all subjects. The school does not regularly check what pupils already know and can do in several subjects. As a result, teachers are unable to ensure that pupils build on their prior knowledge when learning new things. The school knows that there is more to do to make sure that pupils learn as well as they could in all subjects.
The school has prioritised curriculum improvements in English and mathematics. In these subjects, the curriculum is well thought out and carefully planned. As a result, mathematics is a particular strength of the school.
