Ash Green excels at nurturing all pupils regardless of their starting point. Reading is taught exceptionally well, with pupils becoming confident, enthusiastic readers. The school creates a welcoming, supportive environment where behaviour is outstanding and every child is encouraged to achieve their best.

Key Strengths

  • Outstanding pupil behaviour - pupils are unfailingly courteous, considerate and eager to learn
  • Strong reading achievement - pupils develop excellent reading skills from phonics to independent reading for pleasure

  • Good quality teaching that is consistently good and sometimes outstanding
  • Excellent pastoral care and nurturing environment where pupils thrive

Areas for Improvement

  • Teaching in mathematics is not as strong as in reading and writing - pupils' understanding of number values needs reinforcement
