What This School Does Well

Alma Park is particularly strong in teaching reading, with pupils developing a genuine love of books and achieving phonics results well above the national average. The school has outstanding behaviour and a very positive learning environment where pupils feel safe and valued. It makes excellent use of its pupil premium funding to support disadvantaged pupils, who now make outstanding progress and achieve in line with or ahead of their peers.

Safeguarding procedures were scrutinised during the inspection and found to be effective, with pupils feeling very safe and valued in the school.

Alma Park Primary School is a good school where pupils from well-below average starting points achieve well to reach broadly average standards by the end of Year 6. The new headteacher has led the school well through a period of transition and is successfully improving teaching quality and pupil achievement.
