What This School Does Well

The school creates a happy, welcoming community where children thrive and feel valued. Teachers build strong relationships with families and have high expectations for behaviour and learning. Reading is taught very effectively through trained staff and well-matched books, and children in early years receive excellent support to develop communication skills that prepare them for later learning.

Key Strengths

  • Strong behaviour and positive attitudes to learning across the school, with pupils embodying the 'All Saints Way'
  • Early years provision is good with well-matched learning and skilled staff supporting children's language and communication development
  • Effective phonics teaching with trained staff providing additional support to help pupils become fluent readers
  • Clear curriculum design showing what should be taught and when, with increased staff confidence and consistency
  • Pupils benefit from trips and visits including residential outdoor activities like archery and abseiling

Areas for Improvement

  • Many curriculum improvements are at early stages and not consistently implemented well, leaving pupils with knowledge gaps across subjects
  • Teachers do not routinely check pupils are secure with prior learning before moving to new content, preventing them from building on their knowledge
  • Support for pupils with special educational needs is at an early stage, with staff not yet adapting teaching well enough to meet their needs
  • Pupils do not have a rich body of knowledge in some subjects due to incomplete curriculum implementation

Safeguarding

Safeguarding arrangements are effective with clear systems in place that put pupils' interests first.

Extracurricular Activities

Band, choir, sporting teams, playground leader roles, anti-bullying ambassadors, residential trips with outdoor activities (archery, abseiling), local walks, museum visits

All Saints Church of England Primary School Stockport requires improvement in the quality of education. The school has raised its ambition and expectations for pupils since the previous inspection, with effective leadership driving curriculum improvements, but pupils have gaps in knowledge as new curriculums are still being implemented.
