Ofsted Insights

From Ofsted's November 2024 inspection report.

What This School Does Well

3 Dimensions excels at building strong relationships with pupils who have faced significant challenges in their education. The school combines high academic expectations with exceptional personal development opportunities, preparing pupils not just for exams but for independent, confident life after school. Staff create an inclusive, vibrant environment where every pupil feels valued and belongs.

Key Strengths

  • Pupils display outstanding behaviour and attitudes, with a respectful, positive climate throughout the school
  • Exceptional personal development through enrichment activities like Duke of Edinburgh's Award, work experience, and charity events that prepare pupils for their future
  • Strong reading programme with well-trained staff delivering phonics effectively, leading to pupils making strong progress in reading and comprehension
  • Excellent preparation for life beyond school through structured careers education and early transition support to colleges and sixth-form providers
  • High aspirations for all pupils with an ambitious and broad curriculum tailored to individual needs

Areas for Improvement

  • In a few curriculum subjects, the school has not clearly identified the essential knowledge pupils need to learn and in what order, resulting in some gaps in pupils' knowledge
  • The school should ensure all subjects are sequenced clearly to build subject-specific knowledge and address any historical gaps so learning is secure across all subjects

Safeguarding

Safeguarding arrangements are effective, with pupils learning how to keep themselves safe including when using technology, and understanding positive relationships and British values.

Extracurricular Activities

Duke of Edinburgh's Award, work experience, donkey sanctuary visits, charity events

3 Dimensions is an independent special school for pupils aged 7 to 25 with autism and EHC plans. The school creates a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere where pupils arrive with enthusiasm and feel valued and safe.
