What is it like to attend this early years setting?

Children thoroughly enjoy their time at this home-from-home setting. Staff show genuine affection and interest in the children's welfare as they take time to listen to their thoughts and ideas. On arrival, children quickly settle into play, exploring the wide range of activities that staff offer them. For example, older babies crawl and walk to reach books and instruments. Staff working with babies are warm and nurturing. Babies demonstrate that they feel safe and secure as they hold out their arms for cuddles. They stare intently at staff singing songs and reading stories. This helps them to become familiar with the adults who will care for them.

Staff skilfully incorporate early mathematics into engaging activities. For example, babies learn to count animals in books and during song time. In addition, toddlers count each spoonful of flour for their home-made play dough and discuss how many more they will need. Children develop a good grounding in early mathematics.

Children behave well. Staff teach manners to all children in an effective and age-appropriate way. Children replicate the behaviours they see from staff within their own play. For instance, during mealtimes, children choose their food and take turns to serve it, while saying thank you for assistance from staff. Staff are excellent role models and care deeply about the children. Staff are responsive and respectful at all times.

What the setting must and should do next

The provider should:

  • support staff to consistently build on what children know, as they play, to help them develop their thinking
  • support staff to understand how to better deliver group activities to ensure that all children can participate and learn.

Ofsted grades before November 2025 (England)

Inspections before November 2025 gave one overall grade on a four-point scale: Outstanding, Good, Requires improvement, Inadequate. Ofsted also graded the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management, and said whether safeguarding was effective.

Settings keep their last grade until Ofsted visits again, so many nurseries still show a grade from this older scale.
