What Ofsted found in each area
Leadership and governance: Expected standard
Leaders have created a positive and supportive holiday club, where they strive for children's welfare and safeguarding to be at the heart of everything they do. They have a clear understanding of what the holiday club does well and where improvements are still needed. They regularly reflect on practice and take action when they identify areas for development. Leaders have established clear expectations for staff and make sure that they understand their responsibilities.
Staff speak positively about the support they receive from leaders. They value having an approachable leadership team and feel able to raise questions or concerns when needed. Leaders provide staff with appropriate guidance and regular training to help them understand their responsibilities. For example, staff attend pre-camp training, where leaders discuss the specific arrangements and logistics for each holiday club. Staff also receive a detailed induction and are monitored closely to make sure they understand the expectations of their role. Leaders work alongside staff and provide support to help them develop their practice. They have effective arrangements for monitoring staff suitability, safeguarding, risk assessment, attendance, collection arrangements and the administration of medication. They understand their responsibilities and take action, when they identify any concerns.
Leaders regularly review the organisation of the holiday club and consider how well arrangements work in practice. They recognise the importance of effective staff deployment, clear oversight and consistent practice, so that children receive safe and positive experiences throughout their time at the club. For example, where possible, camp directors are permanent staff who also work as teachers at another branch of the company. This means they know the sites well and, in many cases, have experience of running the holiday club during previous holiday periods. This supports continuity and helps leaders maintain consistent expectations across the provision.

Ofsted report cards (England, from November 2025)
Since 10 November 2025 Ofsted has graded nurseries and pre-schools on a report card. There is no single overall grade. Instead, each of six areas gets one of five grades: Exceptional, Strong standard, Expected standard, Needs attention, Urgent improvement.
The six areas are inclusion; curriculum and teaching; achievement; behaviour, attitudes and establishing routines; children's welfare and wellbeing; leadership and governance. Safeguarding is judged on its own, as met or not met.
Expected standard means the setting does what Ofsted expects of every setting. Strong standard and Exceptional are above that; Needs attention and Urgent improvement mean Ofsted found things the setting has to put right.
