Scottish schools have catchment zones, set by Dumfries & Galloway and published on its website. A child living in a school's zone is normally given a place there; to apply for a school outside your zone you make a placing request.

How do I apply for a school place in Gretna?

Children are normally given a place at their catchment school, and Dumfries & Galloway writes to families to confirm it. To ask for a different school, make a placing request to Dumfries & Galloway - these usually open in November and close in mid-March for the following August.
