The Cavendish School: admissions history

For September 2026 entry, 182 families put The Cavendish School as their first choice and 630 named it as one of their preferences, for 118 places offered. That is 1.5 first choices for every place. 68 families who put it first were not offered a place there.

Demand has been fairly steady: 190 first choices in 2021, against 182 in 2026.

Across East Sussex, 86% of families were offered their first-choice secondary school for 2026 entry, and 96% were offered one of the schools they named.

In 2025, families in East Sussex lodged 470 appeals against secondary school offers; 348 reached a hearing and 83 succeeded (23.9% of those heard).
